This will show you how to make a simple lesson and be able to share it with your class using chromebooks as demonstrated by Sarah Jankowski. For how to connect students to the lesson, skip to step 9.
1) Go to suite.smarttech.com and log in with google to your Smart Learning Suite(SLS) account. Make note of the Class ID. This will be the code that your students use to connect to the lesson from a chromebook. This can be done at your computer or your smartboard. It will be easier to create the lessons on your computer, but you can then have the students come up to the board and do the lesson on the board.
2)Click on the "Add Activities" button.
3)This menu will pop-up and then click on the "Game Based Activities".
4)A list of different games will pop-up. This is where you will choose what type of game you want the students to interact with. Please look at the different options as different games will be better for the lesson on hand or a better fit for your teaching style.
5) Make the game! I have chosen "Super Sort" and made a little game based on even and odd numbers.
6) Once you are satisfied with how your game has turned out, you then need to click on "Finish Editing" in the top left corner of the lesson page. This will take you back to your home screen. you should see the lesson appear on your SLS home screen.
7) Hover over the lesson and click on start.
8)You will then be taken to the smart lesson page and be able to start the lesson for the students. You will be able to also see which students are logged into your lesson. You can also control the pacing of the students from here.
9) To connect students to your lesson from a chromebook, the students will need to go to hellosmart.com. From there the students will "sign-in" or you can have them join as a guest.
10) The next screen will ask them to provide a Class ID. This will be the number that appear on your SLS home page.
11) The teacher will have to first start the lesson from their SLS home screen before it will be available to students. Once the lesson is available, students will be able to complete the lesson at their own pace or at the pace you set. Please provide feedback and if you are needing any help, just put in a ticket!
